Bejawada Movie ReviewTime:01:00 am Date: Dec 01, 2011
Story Kali Prasad (Prabhu) is a powerful man who has a strong group in the city and uses it for good cause. Vijay Krishna (Mukul Dev) works with him. Kali’s brother Shankar Prasad (Abhimayu Singh) who does not like Vijay Krishna’s supremacy kills his brother Kali brutally and blames Vijay Krishna as the murderer. Later Shankar plans to become a politician with the help of a strong politician Ramana (Kota Srinivas Rao). However, he fails due to Vijay Krishna’s authority on Student and Labor Unions but Shankar kills Vijay Krishna finally to make his position strong in the city. Vijay Krishna brother Siva Krishna (Naga Chaitanya) will enter the scene and takes revenge on Shankar and others is the crux. Performances Naga Chaitanya yet again essays a mass role as a rough guy in Bejawada. His body language has improved but he is yet to work on his dialogue diction. Naga Chaitanya best suit for love stories than the intense mass action entertainers. Moreover, his character in Bejawada is poorly etched and the director has to take the blame. Amala Paul looked good but she has very little for performance in the film. Her dubbing was also not impressive. Prabhu is perfect in the powerful role, Abhimanyu singh could have done better, Mukul Dev and Ajay are confident. Kota Srinivasa Rao is good, Subhaleka Sudhakar is brief, Brahmanandam and MS Narayana comedy were acceptable. Technical Analysis Cinematography is good and few of the camera angles in scenes reminds of Ram Gopal Varma influence. Action scenes are well-shot. Music is pretty mediocre and so is the background score. Dialogues aren’t powerful which are needed for such scripts. Editing is poor. Vivek Krishna’s story is a simple revenge drama and revolves around two rival groups. Screenplay is highly predictable and there is no conviction in its narration. Direction is poor and the Production values are below average.
Analysis
Bejawada could have been a good mass entertainer if handled well but the poor direction unconvincing narration, weak screenplay, misused cast made it a below average offering. While the first half of the film is wasted on the etching of hero’s characterization and showcasing villain, the second half starts on a bright note but looses its track very soon. Emotional scenes aren’t dealt well while the entire film looked like a cat and mouse chase between the rival groups. Bejawada has no resemblances to real life incidents happened in 80’s and 90’s period in the city as publicized earlier and RGV seem to have used it as publicity gimmick to pull the crowds. But the end product doesn’t deserve all the hype and publicity as it has nothing to do with caste wars or rowdyism happened in Vijayawada. Final Verdict A routine revenge drama User Commentspranavi Dec 04, 2011 at 5:07 pm chetha movie
